Shar Pei is a loyal character, his family, they are reserved with strangers, indifferent. He is playful, dominant, mobile, independent and calm. He should be sure to educate and socialize a puppy.

Shar Pei needs a calm, balanced and patient driver. BRIEF HISTORICAL SUMMARY:
This Chinese breed has existed in China seaside

General appearance:

BEHAVIOUR / CHARACTER:
Calm, independent, loyal, affectionate to his family.

HEAD:
Relatively large compared with the body. Wrinkles on forehead and cheeks continuing to form dewlap.
Cranial region:
Skull: Flat, broad.
Stop: Hardly pronounced.
FACIAL:
Nose: Large and wide, preferably black, but can be any color, if it complies with the coat color.
Nostrils wide open.

Eyes: Dark, almond-shaped with a scowling expression. Lighter color permissible in dilute-colored dogs. Free from entropion.
Ears: Very small, rather thick, equilateral triangles in shape. And the vertices are rounded
high on the skull with tips pointing towards eyes.
The ears are above the eye, and far from striking them wide apart and close to skull. Pricked ears highly undesirable.
NECK:
Medium length, strong, set well on shoulders sitting. The loose skin under the neck should not be excessive.

BODY:

Topline: Withers slightly behind a stamp, loin slightly rise again.
Back: Short, strong.
The lumbar (loin): Short, wide, slightly rounded.
Croup: Rather flat.

Underline: Rises slightly under the loin.

TAIL:
Thick and rounded at root, tapering to a sharp peak direction. Good high-set tail is a characteristic feature of the breed. This can be a high arch or tightly twisted over the back or on one side or the other inverted. Highly undesirable and not the full-length or even the missing tail.

LIMBS
FOREQUARTERS:
The front legs are straight, moderate length, good bone. Forelegs shows no wrinkling.
Shoulders: Muscular, well laid back.
Pastern: Slightly sloping, strong and flexible.
HINDQUARTERS:
Muscular, strong, moderately angulated; the legs are perpendicular to the ground, back view parallel to each other. Wrinkles on upper thighs, lower thighs, rear pasterns as well as the hock joint thickening of the skin.
Hock: Low set.
FEET:
Moderate size, compact, not splayed toes; toes well knuckled. Rear legs will not be extra toes.

MOVEMENT:
The preferred gait is the trot. The gait is free, balanced, active with good reach and strong drive of the hindquarters. The pace of increase of the feet tend to converge to a center line. The movement of the rigid legs are undesirable.

COAT
HAIR:
A distinctive feature of the breed: short, harsh and bristly. The coat is straight and offstanding on the body; but generally flatter on the limbs. Without undercoat. Coat length can vary between 1 to 2.5 cm. In any case, do not be trimmed.

COLOUR:
All solid colors acceptable except white. Tail and rear part of thighs frequently of a lighter
stained. Darker shading down the back and on the ears.
